Williams Furniture Hosts Retirement Sale, But Not Closing

McKENZIE (August 28) — For 42 years, Williams Furniture Company has operated in McKenzie. This week, Phil Williams said he is slowing down and finally following his doctor’s directive to take life a bit easier.
The store, located in downtown McKenzie on Broadway, has massive amounts of inventory in the main store and many warehouses. Williams said he plans to sell much of that inventory and continue to operate on a smaller, less hectic scale.
I have really enjoyed my time and I thank my many customers through the years…I am 73 years old, it is time to slow down,” said Williams.

He said he plans to continue serving his customers.
Williams lost his wife, Irene, last November. They had planned before her death to sell off some of the inventory, but never made the concerted effort. Now is the time with the retirement sale, said Williams.
Williams is the longest-service city mayor in Tennessee. He has served the City of McLemoresville for 42 years in that position and additional years prior as a councilman. He also preaches, performs weddings and funerals.
