This year McKenzie Elementary School celebrated the spirit of giving by creating care packages for local nursing homes. The students made cards and helped to create care packages as a way of learning how to give back to others. more
McKENZIE (April 1) — McKenzie Band held its annual beauty revues for students in McKenzie Special School District. The competition included competition in six categories. The event was in the McKenzie High School Theatre. The winners ranged in age from 4 to 18 and are pictured. more
McKENZIE (January 15) — Carroll County school children won’t see the inside of a classroom until at least Friday of this week due to inclement weather. Carroll County schools announced Monday that schools are closed Tuesday through Thursday; a determination about Friday classes will be made later in the week. As of Monday, Weakley County schools announced closings for Tuesday and Wednesday. Henry County schools will be closed Tuesday. more
McKENZIE (December 5) — Carroll, Henry, and Benton counties are home to subterranean titanium, according to officials with IperionX. The publicly listed company is betting on the future of titanium mining in the northwest Tennessee communities to provide a lightweight, but strong metal for uses as aircraft, military vehicles, and even metal shields for EV batteries on automobiles. more
PURYEAR (March 28) — Representatives of Paris BPU, Silicon Ranch and Tennessee Valley Authority gathered in Puryear at the new 6.75-megawatt solar farm for a ‘flip the switch’ event to symbolically turn on the power the 20,410 solar panels (modules) in 230 rows that span 80 acres. more

HUNTINGDON — Saturday, August 20, saw Huntingdon host its first championship bicycle race. They have hosted bicycle road races and triathlons in the past but this year they were host to the 2022 Tennessee State Individual and Team Time Trial Championship. more
(October 27) — Gibson County Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) announces the expansion of its services to Carroll County, prompting the name change from Gibson County CASA to CASA of Midwest Tennessee. more
More than 50 volunteers came together Saturday, May 7, to hold a Mobile Pantry at the Carroll County Library in Huntingdon, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Sponsored by Centennial Bank of Carroll County, the event provided 16,000 pounds of fresh produce and shelf-stable goods to more than 275 local families. Each household also received bouquets of fresh flowers to share with loved ones for Mother’s Day. more
The McKenzie Rotary Club hosted St. John siblings Jordan and Jessica of Sweet Jordan’s in Paris, Tennessee. Jordan better known as Sweet Jordan or Papa Jordan to company teammates, along with other family members will soon be opening their second location in McKenzie. Jessica informed club members that in an estimated five weeks they will be ready to open the McKenzie building located in the Highland Plaza. more
PARIS (July 28) — After weeks of no response at all, BlueCare finally responded to Henry County Medical Center’s request for a higher reimbursement rate. But the response was way less than what Hospital CEO John Tucker said will be enough to keep the obstetrics (OB) unit open. more
McKENZIE (April 1) — Friday evening’s severe weather did not hamper Saturday’s Easter egg drop at McKenzie City Park. Thousands of children and their parents gathered at the park to partake in the McKenzie Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Easter Egg Drop. Members of the chamber along with vendors and volunteers from the community, McKenzie High School and Bethel University came together to make the event a resounding success. more
McKenzie’s Thursday night summer concert series Nights on Broadway continues August 3 with live music from the James Greer Band. Bring out your lawn chairs, check out the parked food vendors, dance a little, and shop in downtown McKenzie while enjoying local talent. Depending on the weather, the event might move into McKenzie’s Park Theatre. more

McKENZIE (June 13) — Andrew Stokes, chairman of the Habitat for Humanity in Carroll County, was the featured speaker at the McKenzie Rotary Club on June 13. Stokes is a volunteer with the organization. He is also a Baptist minister, Boy Scout leader, and owns Stokes Surveying in Clarksburg. more
