McKENZIE — Carroll Arts, Inc. is back to kick off McKenzie’s Sweet Tea & Southern Pickin’s Festival with a production including familiar faces and an unfamiliar story. Over the summer, local actors have taken the McKenzie High School Theatre stage to practice for the play, titled “Southern Fried Nuptials,” and they are excited to show off their hard work this weekend. more

McKENZIE — Williams Furniture Company, 26 Broadway Street, in downtown McKenzie is closing after 46 years in McKenzie. The family-owned store, owned by Phil Williams, 78, of McLemoresville, is beginning its going out of business sale on Thursday of this week. more

HUNTINGDON (October 6) — Spectrum will extend high-speed internet, cable TV and telephone services to another 4,600 houses in rural Carroll County, thanks to federal, state, and a county grant. The announcement was made to an audience of approximately  75 area citizens at the Colonial Tea Room on Thursday, October 6. more
CARROLL COUNTY (March 5) — Severe weather hammered the mid-south area over a three-day period last week starting on Wednesday. For Carroll County, the most intense action took place on Friday with severe storms in the morning and dangerously high winds throughout the day, knocking out power to roughly 6,456 Carroll County Electric Department (CCED) customers. more
Erika Cole introduced a new class to young minds this summer: Español with Señora Cole. The McKenzie High School Spanish instructor opened her classroom for students, ages 6-11, to learn Spanish and Mexican culture. more
In the coming months, the parks and recreations of McKenzie will undergo a series of planned improvements. Expected improvements are to include but are not limited to a three field soccer complex with a concession stand and restrooms and a parking lot. more
