Local Football Players Make All-State The Tennessee Sportswriters Associated listed its list of All-State players on January 4. Four players from McKenzie and one from Huntingdon were honored. more
BENTON, Ky. (December 20, 21) — The Huntingdon Mustangs opened the FNB Holiday Classic tournament against the hosting school the Marshall County Marshals. The Mustangs were defeated 75-42 by the Marshals moving to the consolation bracket. Huntingdon then faced the Christian County Colonels. The Mustangs didn’t fare much better as they were put out of the tournament 73-56. more
HUNTINGDON (December 7) — Thursday night, Huntingdon High School held its celebratory football banquet at the Huntingdon Church of Christ. The Quarterback Club named seniors Ashton Hutcherson and C.J. Pelonero as co-MVPs for the 11-2 football season. Hutcherson scored 108 points for the season with 1,401 yards rushing and 17 touchdowns while Pelonero posted 122 tackles with nine sacks and two interceptions. more
The Huntingdon Fillies basketball team moved to 7-2 on the season with wins over South Gibson and Obion County. The Tuesday night 54-47 win against South Gibson was their second of the season over the Lady Hornets. Leading scorer for the match-up was Lilly Kee with 19 points, followed by Delaney Byars with 16, Josey Stokes and Annabelle Singleton with 7, Quinn Kelley 3, and Kelby Crossno 2. Hallie Allen and Karson Dunn led South Gibson with 13 and 12 respectively. more
HUNTINGDON (November 28) — On Tuesday night, Huntingdon High School welcomed Union City for a pair of basketball games. The Huntingdon Fillies improved to 5-1 on the season with a 63-43 win over the Golden Tornadoes, while the Mustangs dropped to 1-4 with a 75-56 loss. more
HUNTINGDON (November 17) — On Friday night, Huntingdon hosted Riverside at Paul Ward Stadium for the second matchup of the season between the two teams. Although the Mustangs defeated the Panthers the first time the two teams met on September 29, 22-15, a series of missed opportunities and untimely turnovers ended Huntingdon’s playoff advancement as they lost to Riverside, 24-7. more
HUNTINGDON (November 10) — On Friday, Huntingdon hosted the Milan Bulldogs in the second round of the TSSAA Class 2A playoffs at Paul Ward Stadium. The second match-up of the season between the two teams mirrored the first. The Bulldogs led throughout the first quarter after posting two early scores but were shut down for the remainder of the game as the Mustang defense forced three turnovers. The Huntingdon offense posted 42 unanswered points until the last play of the game. The final score of 49-20 included a perfect night for placekicker Grayson Anderson who was 7 for 7 with extra point attempts. This week, Huntingdon hosts a repeat match-up with the Riverside Panthers in the playoff quarterfinals. more

HERMITAGE (November 2) — On Thursday, November 2, the TSSAA released the list of semifinalists for the Mr. Football Awards. Among those listed is Huntingdon’s Gray Eubanks. The junior quarterback / free-safety is on the list of candidates for Division 1, Class 2A. more
HUNTINGDON (November 3) — On Friday, Huntingdon welcomed Waverly to Paul Ward stadium for the first round of 2A TSSAA playoffs. The Mustangs defense kept the Tiger offense scoreless through four quarters. Their offense easily controlled the ball as they scored nine touchdowns for the night, posting a final score of 62-0. The Mustangs advance in the playoffs and host the Milan Bulldogs for a quarterfinal rematch this Friday night. more

HUNTINGDON (October 27) — On Friday, the Huntingdon Mustangs welcomed Trenton Peabody to Paul Ward stadium for their final regular season match-up. Their 48-14 victory over the Golden Tide capped a nine-game winning streak and gave them a 9-1 regular season record. The Mustangs are a perfect 7-0 in Region 6-2A and claimed the region title for the 2023 season. more
CAMDEN (October 20) — On Friday night Huntingdon traveled to Camden for a region match-up against the Lions. With their decisive victory, the Mustangs clinched the number one spot in Region 6-2A for the 2023 season. Leading 48-0 at the half, Huntingdon easily outplayed Camden both offensively and defensively. Camden’s only points came in the second half against Huntingdon’s second team under a running clock. The win is the eighth straight for Huntingdon, now 6-0 in region play, with a season record of 8-1. more

HUNTINGDON (October 13) — Friday night, Huntingdon welcomed Gibson County to Paul Ward Stadium for a region matchup. The Mustangs dominated the Pioneers on both sides of the ball and led the game 30-0 by the end of the first half. They scored twice more in the second half under a running clock. The victory advanced Huntingdon to a 7-1 record for the season, 5-0 for region play. more
HERMITAGE (October 2) — Following an investigation concerning an on-the-field altercation during the Huntingdon-Milan football on Friday, September 22, the TSSAA placed both teams on probation until the end of the 2024-2025 school year. The schools were fined $500 annually, amounting to $1,000 each over the two-year period. Though schools are on probation they are still allowed to participate in post-season play. more

JACKSON (October 6) — Friday night, Huntingdon traveled to Jackson Northside to battle Jackson Central-Merry (JCM) in a regional matchup. This was the first contest on the field between the two schools. The Mustangs dominated JCM with a final score of 41-6, the only Cougar points of the night coming after a fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter with a running clock. Each first-half possession for the Cougars resulted in a punt, turnover on downs, or fumble. The Mustangs took advantage of each opportunity and scored 34 unanswered points in the first half with five successful scoring drives. more
