Gleason High School held its 2022 commencement activities on Friday, May 20, in the school’s gymnasium. Twenty-seven seniors graduated with Cameron Thompson as valedictorian, Grace Marie Long as salutatorian and Hannah Grace Stafford as class president.

Erika Cole introduced a new class to young minds this summer: Español with Señora Cole. The McKenzie High School Spanish instructor opened her classroom for students, ages 6-11, to learn Spanish and Mexican culture.

Bethel University is extending the waiver of standardized test requirements through the 2023 fall semester as a continued response to repercussions from the COVID-19 pandemic. This waiver is only applicable to traditional undergraduate programs through the College of Arts and Sciences. Students are required to submit official high school transcripts for admission.

McKENZIE (APRIL 11) — The annual McKenzie Middle School Honors Banquet was Tuesday, April 11 in the school’s gymnasium. Honorees were treated to a meal sponsored by the McKenzie Rotary Club.

McKENZIE (November 27) — It was final tests week at Bethel University for the Fall 2023 seminar. A night of fun honored the students with a late-evening pancake, sausage, and dessert meal. Bethel President Walter Butler along with faculty and staff members prepared and served the students.

McKenzie High School Homecoming began Monday, August 29. Each day is a specific dress-up day for MHS students. Monday is Top Spotify Band/Artist; Tuesday is “Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus-USA Day;” Wednesday, “Work” by Rihanna - dress up as what you want to be when you grow up; Thursday “Deja Vu” by Olivia Rodrigo - decade day, throwback to your favorite decade; Friday - “Get Your Head in the Game”--High School Musical - wear red and gray.

Three weeks after the TCAP English/language arts (ELA) scores revealed that more than half of Tennessee’s third-grade students faced high retention risks, the Tennessee Department of Education released a new chart representing students from each school district who decided to retake the assessment.

NASHVILLE (Dec. 20, 2023) — Three finalists have been selected for the next president of Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Henry/Carroll. All three will participate in public interviews on the campus in Paris, TN, on Jan. 9, 2024, the next step in the selection process.

The McKenzie High School Alumni Association held its first official meeting Thursday, June 8, in the McKenzie High School Theater. Brad Camp, Class of 1983, led the meeting and reviewed the organizations new bylaws and committees. Attendees were urged to sign in via a Google Form where they inputted their names, email addresses and phone numbers for contact. They also answered when they graduated from McKenzie High School, their involvement in school organizations, and if they would be interested in joining a committee.
