NASHVILLE (January 29) — The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is announcing its participation in the 2024 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). The goal of the Summer Food Service Program is to ensure children 18 and younger, who benefit from meal programs at school, continue to have that same access to nutritious meals outside of school. more
TENNESSEE (FEBRUARY 12) — Average gasoline prices in Tennessee have risen 0.5 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.83/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,821 stations in Tennessee. Prices in Tennessee are 12.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 22.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has risen 6.9 cents in the last week and stands at $3.99 per gallon. more

The two FCE clubs of Carroll County, Bethel/Eastside of Huntingdon and Macedonia of McKenzie, came together in a joint effort to host the cluster meeting for Western Region FCE clubs. The Western Region consists of 31 counties bordered by the Mississippi River, There were about 70 ladies present including the extension agents for several of those counties. On Saturday January 27, teams of county citizens gathered at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie for the annual Trivia Bowl sponsored by Carroll Arts. Teams represented churches, civic organizations, college clubs and other groups in the area. more
The Four Chaplains’ Service is an annual service to commemorate the selfless acts of four chaplains on the early morning hours of February 3, 1943. Prices in Tennessee are 2.0 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 49.9 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 0.5 cents in the last week and stands at $3.87 per gallon. more

PARIS — During a recent meeting of the Henry County Hospital Board, the NW Tennessee Cares organization asked the Henry County Medical Center to appoint a task force to restore the hospital’s obstetrics department. Hospital officials said their ongoing exploration into the possible management of the hospital by an outside healthcare system would include a stipulation that an obstetrics department be restored. more
