TREZEVANT (May 3) — U.S. Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) visited with West Carroll Elementary and Junior High students participating in the SIFMA Foundation’s Capitol Hill Challenge program, underwritten by the Charles Schwab Foundation. This national 14-week financial education competition pairs individual members of Congress with public schools in every congressional district, equipping middle and high school students to become financially capable and civics-minded. more
McKENZIE — It was a special day for mothers at AHC-McKenzie. The Monday morning event kicked off with a balloon release to mark National Nursing Home Week and the recognition of moms who are residents at the facility. more

McKENZIE — Wayne Cooper of McKenzie is back to selling fiddlesticks, which is deja vu for the 81 year old. That’s where his career started when he was 10 years old and he says, that’s where his career will end. more
The West Carroll School Board met for their regular monthly meeting on Thursday evening, May 5 with a number of items on the agenda. more
McKENZIE (May 7) — Bethel University conferred 307 degrees on Saturday, May in the Crisp Arena on the McKenzie campus. Graduates were conferred degrees on the levels of Associates, Bachelors and Masters for both in-person and online students. more
McKENZIE (May 3) — The construction of a new multi-purpose building is one step closer following the action of the Board of Education of the McKenzie Special School District. The Board approved the issuance of debt, which allows the bond agent to seek buyers for the debt. more
The April meeting of the McKenzie Garden Club was April 22 at the home of Chester and Victoria Ard, with President Myra Sasser presiding. The Devotional was given by Victoria, who spoke on the importance of recognizing and appreciating the tiny blessings in our lives. The big blessings are wonderful, but it’s the tiny ones - phone calls from our children, hugs from loved ones, cool breezes, first tomatoes on the vines, funny family stories - that really get us through the rough times in our lives. more

Sour Cream Pound Cake 1 box Duncan Hines Butter cake mix 1/4 cup water 4 eggs 1 -8 oz. sour cream 1/3 cup Crisco Oil 1/4 cup sugar Mix and bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes. Bake in a bundt pan. more
Inglenook Book Club held the April meeting at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie on April 13. Hostesses were Carolyn Moore and Mary Newman. They served delicious coconut/orange cake along with Easter chocolates. more
MACEDONIA (April 5) — The Macedonia FCE club met at the home of Martha Peters. The Creed was read in unison. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Sarah Brown in the absence of the secretary, Veronica Giamo. Roll call was answered by telling something that makes you laugh. more
Paris — Pharmacy Director Paula Bell was recently presented with the Loyal Patriot Award by Henry County Mayor John Penn Ridgeway for her service to the hospital and the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Loyal Patriot Award is the highest award that can be bestowed on a Henry County citizen. more
West Carroll Future Business Leaders of America compete at the state level with two members advancing to nationals. more
McKENZIE — The final total for the proceeds from the Carroll County Relay For Life Bake Auction totals $18,819, according to Sherrye Washburn, chairman of the annual radio auction to benefit the American Cancer Society. more
