HUNTINGDON — A joint investigation by special agent fire investigators and special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of a McKenzie man in connection to a house fire. more
McKENZIE (October 28) — A Saturday evening residential fire completely destroyed the home of Fred and Robyn Hatler, located on Langford Store Road, outside of McKenzie. more
NASHVILLE (October 19) — Tennessee’s unemployment rate for September 2023 inched up slightly from the state’s all-time low rate of 3.1%. Data from the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD) showed the seasonally adjusted rate increased by 0.1 of a percentage point to 3.2% during the month. more
DYER COUNTY (October 20) — Friday, an earthquake of 3.3 magnitude occurred at 9:59 p.m. near Dyersburg, Dyer County, Tennessee [11 miles from the epicenter]. The event was reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). more
KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII (October 14) — Kirsten Sass, local triathlon legend and trainer, competed against an elite field of professional triathletes in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii for the first women’s edition of the 2023 IRONMAN World Championship. more
McKENZIE (October 21) — The McKenzie Police and Fire Departments worked with Hometown Hangout to raise funds for Christmas for Kids. Firefighters and police officers were on hand taking part in a meet-and-greet with community members with police vehicles and fire trucks on the scene. They also helped serve and work the carry-out orders. A bounce house and slide were also provided for the youth. more
HUNTINGDON (October 19) — The Town of Huntingdon dedicated its government complex building in memory of long-time mayor and resident Dale R. Kelley on Thursday. A crowd of family and friends joined Huntingdon Mayor Nina Smothers for the dedication of the building. more
LEXINGTON (October 18) — A Carroll County woman and her son have died following a head-on collision with an intoxicated driver in Lexington, Tennessee on Wednesday. more
Huntingdon City Hall, 19810 E Main St, Huntingdon, Tenn. will be formally named “Dale R. Kelley Center” on Thursday, October 19, 2023. The dedication ceremony is after the 5:15 p.m. council meeting. This date was chosen in honor of former Mayor Kelley’s birthday. more

McKENZIE (October 12) — After two months of discussion, the McKenzie City Board of Mayor and Council voted against the de-annexation of Holland Farms, LLC by a split vote of 4-3. Voting against de-annexation were Councilpersons Bobby Young, Carol Armpriest and Tom Alexander; Mayor Ryan Griffin broke the tie with a no vote. Voting in favor of the Hollands were Councilpersons Charles Pruneau, Josefina Batton and Vice Mayor Jessie Townes. more
