KNOXVILLE (June 14- 17) — 4-H Academic Conference is a 4-H STEM event held on the campus of UT Knoxville every summer. Students from all over the state of Tennessee submit applications and are selected to attend the conference, based on their project work. The purpose of 4-H Academic Conference is to recognize outstanding 4-Hers who are actively involved in various projects, provide academic training related to the 4-Hers project areas, meet other 4-Hers from across the state, and experience life on a college campus.

Eight students from Carroll County attended 4-H Academic Conference this summer in the following project areas: beef, horse, computers, consumer education, wildlife, forestry, and creative arts. All eight students were selected to attend the summer program. Seven of the students attended 4-H Academic Conference June 14-17 at UT Knoxville. Bianca Richardson and Paige Costello, homeschool, Cadence Guinn, Central School, Lydia Sumrok, McKenzie Middle School, Zac Fowler and Alyssa Morris, West Carrol Jr/Sr. High, and Esme Lamb, Huntingdon Middle School. These students spent the week learning about their project areas by working with specialists and college professors at UT Knoxville, toured the UT campus, spent a day at Dollywood, and closed their week with a graduation ceremony and pool party.
