AHC-McKenzie Hosts Mother’s Day Event

McKENZIE — It was a special day for mothers at AHC-McKenzie. The Monday morning event kicked off with a balloon release to mark National Nursing Home Week and the recognition of moms who are residents at the facility.

Coreen Bennett, 99, was honored as the oldest mother and the mother with the most children. Her children include Mary Newman, Carolyn Seavers, Angela Jackson, Donald Bennett, and Jimmy Bennett - all of whom were in attendance at the celebration.

April McClerkin was honored as the youngest mother at the age of 42.

Luvergene Adkisson was honored as the resident of the month.

Mayor Jill Holland read a proclamation honoring AHC continued service to the community. It located in McKenzie in 1995. She recognized the facility, its residents, and staff during National Nursing Home Week.

Linda Harris, activities director, thanked everyone for attending the outdoor ceremony, noting its the first year since COVID that the facility has returned to the celebration. The event ended with a release of helium balloons.
