Animal Cruelty Suspects Arrested Again

Posted

COOKEVILLE — Tara Neutzler and Donald Schoenthal, the same couple arrested in Atwood on 300 charges of Animal Cruelty, have been arrested and charged with identical charges in Putnam County. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department were serving warrants on unrelated charges and found over 40 animals suffering from a wide range of medical issues and contacted the Animal Rescue Corps for assistance.
Neutzler and Schoenthal have appeared in court in Carroll County several times since being arrested in April 2018 and charged with approximately 300 counts of animal cruelty after a tip led the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and the Animal Rescue Corps to serve a warrant on an Atwood residence where 150 animals were found either dead or in poor health. In what is now being called Operation Noah’s Ark, the ARC rescued the animals and are still caring for most of them at this time.
The case is scheduled to go to trial in Carroll County Circuit Court on July 15.
Meanwhile, Neutzler and Schoenthal have been charged with TennCare Fraud and Felony Theft while animal neglect charges are still being investigated by the Putman County Sheriff’s Office.
