HUNTINGDON (April 2) — Candidates announce their intentions to seek office for the August 2 elections.
State Representative Andy Holt is not seeking reelection. Several candidates are seeking the seat for the 76th District in the Tennessee State House of Representatives. It includes five Republicans and one Independent.
Republican candidates are - Dennis J. Doster, Larry L. Gallimore, David Hawks, and Leon Ronald Huestis – all of Weakley County, and Keith Priestley of McKenzie – all of whom will appear on the August ballot. The Independent candidate is Dresden Mayor Jeffery T. Washburn, who will appear on the November ballot.
Those seeking the Tennessee State Senate 24th District seat are: Republican candidates - Casey L. Hood (from Obion County) and incumbent John D. Stevens of Huntingdon; Independent Yahweh Yahweh (from Gibson County). Hood and Stevens will appear on the August ballot. Yahweh Yahweh will appear on the November ballot against the winner of the Republican primary.
State House District 79
In State House District 79, Republicans Curtis Halford (incumbent) and Christine Warrington are seeking office.
CHANCELLOR DISTRICT 24
Seeking the unexpired term for Chancellor District 24 to fill the seat vacated by Carma McGee, who was appointed to another judgeship, are Benjamin Harmon (I-Savannah) and Vicki Hoover (R-Paris).
McKENZIE SCHOOL BOARD
Three positions are set to expire on August 31. Persons running in the August General Election are: Misty Aird, Chad Brown, Karen T. Fowler and Jan Latimer (incumbent). John Austin and Lance Rider are not seeking reelection.
