Bateman is New Trezevant Councilman

Lloyd Bateman is the new Trezevant councilman. He was administered the oath of office on Tuesday, August 10 during the monthly meeting of the Trezevant Mayor-Council.

Bateman is a retired barber and previously served as a councilman on the Trezevant board.

He fills the unexpired term of Eddie Granger, who resigned in June.

In other business, the board approved the second and final reading on new rates for water and sewer tap fees and approved proceeding to fill the hole in the middle of Park Street near the CSX railroad track. Bore samples must first be completed before working to fill the hole.

The board will conduct a beer board meeting and public hearing concerning the possibility of allowing sales of beer on Sunday. The Beer Board convenes at 6 p.m. on September 14, followed by a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. and the regular city board meeting at 6:30 p.m.
