JACKSON, Tenn. — Benjamin (Ben) Fulton Howard, III, died Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his home in Jackson, Tenn. Born on September 15, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland, Mr. Howard was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Claire Moss Edwards, and his father, Benjamin Fulton Howard, Jr. He was also predeceased by his stepfather, Howard Ripley Edwards. Mr. Howard is survived by his brothers, William Moss Howard of Knoxville and Vincent Howard Edwards of Providence, Rhode Island, as well as numerous cousins.
Mr. Howard was a 1974 graduate of McKenzie High School, where he was a member of one of the great football teams in the school’s history. He also played football at Memphis State University (now University of Memphis). In addition to his love for football, Mr. Howard was an avid golfer. In his professional life, Mr. Howard was a sales agent for Aflac Insurance. He was happiest, however, when enjoying the fellowship of friends and family. While Mr. Howard attended several churches, he always considered First Cumberland Presbyterian of Jackson his church home.
