Mr. Bernard G. Sands, 85, of Big Sandy, formerly of McKenzie, died Sunday, December 22, 2019.
He was born on May 4, 1934 in Rochester, New York to the late Judson and Nellie Sands. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Sands, and his wife, Dorothy, stepson, Jerry Snowden, and his stepson-in-law, William Matheny.
He is survived by his wife, Earline Sands, his son, Mark Sands (Alice), his daughter, Althea Cuadras (Bruno), his brother, Richard Sands, his wife, Rose, his stepsons, Gene Snowden (Shelly), Glen Snowden (JoAnn), and Jim Snowden (Tammy), and his stepdaughter, Mary Matheney. He is also survived by two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 31 step-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bernard worked for Kodak for a number of years before retiring early so that he could do extensive traveling throughout the country. In addition to travel, he enjoyed nature, camping, antique cars and motorcycles. He also did quite a bit of volunteer work and simply enjoyed life to its fullest.
A memorial service is Saturday, January 25 at the Lee Academy for the Arts, 402 Lee St., Paris, TN 38242 from 2-5 p.m. +
