Bethel, Eastside FCE June Meeting

There were nine members and our agent present for the June meeting of the Bethel/Eastside FCE. We met in the home of Mary and Pennye Mays with Mary Mays acting as the hostess. The meeting was called to order and we read the Homemakers Club Pledge in unison. Roll call was answered with ‘show a pic of your doppelganger.’ The minutes were read and approved. Treasury report was given and accepted.

In old business: the craft day was mentioned as a reminder that we are to meet in the quilt room on the 13th to create a craft to sell. Continue bringing items for Carl Perkins food pantry.

New business: The dairy contest was canceled. A bake sale was suggested and tabled for County Council on July 21. July 22 is the cluster meeting at Montgomery County for FCE lessons at Clarksville. August 9 is the Mini Conference. There is a $16.00 registration fee to be turned into Gail by July 15. Cultural Arts will be judged at the district level.

The educational program was on brain food. Blackberries, leafy greens, walnuts, avocado, pumpkin and sunflower seeds are good for brain power. Keep hydrated, your brain is 70% water. Walk five minutes a day to improve memory. Meditation and in bed by 9 helps keep you healthy.

Club project is to cut the hooks off old bras until November to help turtles repair their shells, bring to club.
