Scholarship Shoot in Memory of Lee Russell
Carroll County Sports Shooting Park is hosting a sporting clays shoot on October 1. The first flight is 9 a.m. and second flight is 1 p.m. 
The shoot is to raise money and to establish a scholarship in memory of Sgt. Lee Russell, who died in a helicopter crash while serving the citizens of Tennessee as an airborne THP officer. He was known as Air Bear 71. The address of the shooting park is 680 McAdoo Cemetery Road, Huntingdon. The phone number is 731-234-6759.
 
McKenzie Senior Center Hosts Dance Party
The McKenzie Senior Center is hosting a dance party for area senior citizens on Saturday, October 1, 2022, 7-9 p.m. Admission is $6 and all senior citizens 55 and over are welcome. Music will be provided by Larry Morgan. Soft drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6 p.m.
 
County Budget Committee to Meet
The County Budget Committee meets the fourth Thursday of each month. The meeting is 10 a.m. in the conference room of the County Complex.
 
Mckenzie City-Wide Yard Sale October 7, 8

Carroll County Humane Society Annual Fall Yard Sale
The Carroll County Humane Society will hold their annual fall yard sale on Friday, September 30 and Saturday, October 1, at the shelter building located at 21822 Highway 22 in McKenzie. The yard sale is open from 7 a.m. until noon both days. Congetta’s Chi-talian Favorites LLC will be there on September 30 and Big Mike’s Little Donuts on October 1.
 
McKenzie Farmers Market
McKenzie Farmers Market is open Saturdays at 8 a.m., 2431 Cedar Street, in downtown McKenzie. The former Studebaker dealership was converted to an indoor/outdoor farmers market and allows area citizens to sell their homemade and homegrown foods and other products. 
It is open every Saturday morning through October. Also visit on Tuesday afternoons, 2-6 p.m. Watch for special children’s activities sponsored by the Carroll County 4-H and Agriculture Extension Service. 
Admission is free. The facility is sponsored by the City of McKenzie. For vendor information, phone City Hall at 731-352-2292. 
 
Scholastic Clay Target Program Recruiting Day October 8
Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is hosting 4th-12th grade students at the Carroll County Shooting Sports Park on Saturday, October 8, 2022, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to try shooting sports. 
This free recruiting day introduces youth to the world of shotgun shooting and connects them to a team in their area. SCTP teaches the importance of safe firearms handling, responsibility, leadership, teamwork and healthy competition. No previous experience is needed. Beginners are guided through firearm safety and instruction from a highly trained coach before having the chance to hit a few practice targets. Interested youth must have a legal guardian present to participate. Safety equipment will be provided for each participant. Most locations will have firearms available, but participants are encouraged to bring any equipment they own.

Shepherd’s Table Community Kitchen
On the third and fourth Tuesdays of each month, The Shepherd’s Table community kitchen serves meals at First Presbyterian Church located at 19835 E. Main Street, Huntingdon, Tenn. Meals are served restaurant style with drive through available after 6 p.m. It is open to the public and there is no cost. Donations are accepted. All are invited.
Food scarcity is real in this area and the Shepherd’s Table’s success is dependent on the support of volunteers and donations. The meals are prepared by volunteer staff hosted by different congregations in our town and donated by local businesses. The community kitchen was created by a group of volunteers who saw the need in the Carroll County community. They need volunteers. Everett’s Chapel Cemetery Association  Meets October 2
The Everett’s Chapel Cemetery Association meets Sunday, October 2, 2022, at 2 p.m. at the Union Grove Baptist Church. The church is located off Highway 124 in McKenzie. All members are invited.
 
Carroll County Commission Meets Monthly
Carroll County Commission meets the second Monday of each month, 7 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Carroll County Office Complex, High Street, Huntingdon. There are no meetings in December, February, and July.
 
Adult Education Classes
Huntingdon Location - Adult Education Building, 14155 Paris Street. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classes are offered for one-on-one instruction on Mondays, 1-4 p.m. and Thursdays, 9 a.m. to noon. For more information, phone 731-364-5481.
 
Council Meets Monthly
The McKenzie City Council meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month. 
 
Prayer on the Square
The Prayer on the Square is held the second Saturday each month, 9 a.m. at The Network on the Court Square in Huntingdon. All denominations are welcome.
 
McKenzie VFW Golf Tournament
