Carroll County Electric Board Alters Employee Insurance

Posted

HUNTINGDON (November 20) — Employee insurance was the main focus of the monthly meeting of the Carroll County Electric Board of Directors.
The company was notified the employees’ premiums would increase by 13.2 percent on January 1. A new option, with BlueCross BlueShield remaining as the carrier, was also presented. This option held employee benefits to a similar standard as the renewal when paired with the Health Reimbursement Account that was implemented in 2018. The net out-of-pocket maximum increased and the coinsurance benefit decreased by 10 percent resulting in some loss of benefits. The estimated impact of the renewal option is at 1.3 percent to the company. The board chose to approve the renewal option at 1.3 percent vs the renewal at 13.2 percent.
In other business, the board heard a report concerning the installing of self-reporting electric meters throughout the county. There are approximately 90 meters remaining to be changed out to complete the AMI transition countywide. The final shipment of needed new meters arrived Friday to complete the transition from the former analog, manually-read meters to the new meters.
