Carroll County Health Department Hosts ‘Fight Flu TN’ Event

Posted

HUNTINGDON (November 19) — The Carroll County Health Department provided free flu vaccines Thursday as part of a statewide “Fight Flu TN” vaccination event.
The drive-through event was held at the Carroll County Civic Center. A total of 40 patients were vaccinated at the event.
CCHD employees, along with regional health department staff, braved windy conditions to provide the vital service in a safe way amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The wait for a COVID-19 vaccine makes it all the more important for people to be vaccinated against the flu this season.

“Getting a flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself, your family and others in our community from the flu,” said Carroll County Health Department Director Emily Rushing. ”The flu can make you very sick, keep you away from work, school and other activities, put you in the hospital or even take your life. We urge everyone in Carroll County who hasn’t received a flu shot yet to get one now.”
The Carroll County Health Department recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone ages six months and older. The flu vaccine is especially important for infants, young children, pregnant women, adults over age 50 and those with chronic medical conditions. The flu vaccine remains the best protection against influenza.
Free vaccines remain available at CCHD. For more information about the flu and getting a flu vaccine, contact your health care provider, call the Carroll County Health Department at 731-986-1990 or visit tn.gov/health/fightflu.
