Carroll County Senior Center News
(February 2020) - Warmer days are just around the corner. Of course, we all know March can be a tricky month with the weather. Hopefully, the winter weather will go away before March arrives.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 13 with a delicious barbecue luncheon provided by Dick Swader, Care Transition Coordinator with American Health Communities. Life Care provided the dessert for our luncheon. We thank those who provided the food. After lunch we chose Senior Sweethearts and the winners were Maurice and Ivogene Pinson, married for 67 years. Mary Bullington won our Valentine word search game. Congratulations to our winners!

In recognition of Black History Month, we traveled to Alex Haley’s boyhood home and museum in Henning, Tennessee. After a very interesting tour we headed to downtown Brownsville to ZZ’s Restaurant for a very enjoyable lunch. Everyone enjoyed the day even if it was a cold one!
A new activity has been added to the March calendar. Phyllis Wendt will teach a Stamp In’ Up card making class on Friday, March 6, 10 a.m. until noon. The cost is $5, which is paid to Phyllis for supplies on the day of the class. If you are interested in learning how to make your own greeting cards call our office to register.
Our monthly add-a-dish luncheon is Thursday, March 12 at 11:30. If you don’t cook and would like to join us, just pick up something precooked at the store. We aren’t choosy about what you bring. Please join us for good food and fellowship. You might even decide to spend the afternoon with us playing cards or dominoes.
Band night with the Trailblazers is Thursday, March 19 at the Carroll County Civic Center at 6:00. The evening begins with a finger food meal, so if you decide to join us for the meal please bring some type of finger food to share with the group.
We have planned a shopping trip to Union City on Friday, March 27. We will leave Huntingdon at 9 and enjoy the day shopping for bargains. The cost is $7 plus your lunch. Call soon if you would like to go.
If you have questions about any of our activities give us a call at 986-1985. We look forward to seeing you soon!
