Unsolved Incident — Authorities are still trying to find out what happened during a March 31 incident in Buena Vista.
According to the report by Deputy Christopher Adams, he and other deputies responded to 5682 Maytown Road at around 4:15 a.m. after receiving a call about a possible suicide. Upon arrival, deputies found Cindy Chaudion, 41, in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck parked at the residence and Cody Chaudoin, 30, in a ditch near the vehicle. Cody Chaudoin, who had blood running from his nose, was complaining of pain in his face and having a difficult time breathing. Cindy Chaudion, who had visible red marks on her neck, told officers someone had choked her while she was sitting in the driver’s seat. Cody Chaudion told officers that they had just returned home, and he had gotten out of the truck to check the mailbox when he was grabbed from behind and beaten. Both Cody and Cindy Chaudion said they could not remember who had assaulted them. Dakota Brett, 20, of 3682 Maytown Road, who made the initial call to police, told officers that he had received a phone call from Cody Chaudion, who seemed to be saying that someone was trying to kill him. Brett said he drove to their residence and found them both unconscious, after which he called 911. While interviewing Brett, deputies observed that he had marks on his hands. Brett said he had been at a friend’s house hitting a punching bag. Deputies could not find any tire tracks or footprints at the scene.
Theft — The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a recent theft from a vehicle near Huntingdon.
Chance Carlton told deputies on April 1 that sometime during the previous night someone had broken into his pickup truck that was parked at his residence at 545 Buck Ditch Road. Carlton said that a set of keys and some loose coins were taken from the vehicle.
