According to the report by Deputy Michael Taylor, he went to 200 Thorne Lane after Simmons’ mother called saying that her son “was unruly and saying he was the devil’s son and scaring her.” Upon arrival, Taylor found Simmons was being physically restrained by a male family member in the carport. Simmons was arrested and transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County to await mental evaluation, but he was then transported to the Carroll County Jail after becoming agitated and violent at the hospital.
