Carroll County Employers Seek 400 Employees

HUNTINGDON (June 22) — Carroll County is hiring. During a multi-employer job fair on Tuesday, June 22 at the American Job Center in Huntingdon, Twenty-one of the county’s employers participated in the four-hour event hoping to hire up to 400 employees.


Maleia Evans, business services representative, Northwest Tennessee Workforce Board, said the county event is one of nine county events in the northwest region.


Wages at the Carroll County event range from $12 to $32 per hour, said Evans. The event was the first in-person job fair since the pandemic.


“I am so excited to see job seekers out there,” said Evans. She noted the employers are desperately needing employees.


One of the employers at the event included the newly announced Hydro-Gear, which announced it needs 375 employees in the next few years as it starts and ramps up production of hydrostatic equipment for outdoor equipment.


According to statistics from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Carroll County had an unemployment rate of 4.8 percent in April with 536 unemployed; Henry County was at 4.3 percent and 572 unemployed; Weakley had 3.7 percent and 575 unemployed; Benton had 4.9 percent and 328 unemployed; and Madison had 4.8 percent and 2,372 unemployed.


Employers with booths included those in the healthcare field, dispatchers for the Sheriff’s Department, home healthcare workers, backhoe operator for the City of McKenzie, machine operators at Allegion and Haven Steel in McKenzie, temporary workers at Hamilton-Ryker. Other employers included HexPol, Zline, Traf-Mark, Baptist Memorial Healthcare, At-Home Healthcare, Life Care Center, A Place Called Home, MSHN, Addus, Senior Solutions, Touching Hearts at Home, and Town of Huntingdon.
