    HUNTINGDON (December 9) — After several months of debate, Carroll County officially has a standardized county-wide fire department. On Monday, December 9, the Carroll County Commission voted 19-1 to create the department. The one vote against its creation came from Commissioner Daniel Willman who wanted a more thorough plan moving forward.

    McKENZIE (December 12) — Investigator Kyle Beauchamp was recognized in Thursday’s City Council meeting by McKenzie Mayor Ryan Griffin and Police Chief Ryan White for his work to seize an unspecified dollar amount through a money laundering ring. The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office will award the McKenzie Police Department with what is unofficially estimated at over $500,000.

    GREENFIELD (December 10) — McKenzie High School traveled to Greenfield Tuesday for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Rebels kept the game in reach into the fourth quarter, but the Lady Yellowjackets surged late to secure a 47-33 win. The Rebels pulled away down the stretch for an 82-48 victory.

The Lady Rebels fell behind in the third, but stormed back to tie the game with two minutes left before falling 70-66. The Rebels had a narrow lead at the half, but exploded in the second half for an 86-56 victory.
