Correction: Watkins Requested Less Pay as Consultant

Posted

McKENZIE (April 4) — Lynn Watkins, director of McKenzie Special School District, is retiring on June 30. During the April 4 meeting of the Board of Education, Watkins offered to serve as a consultant to the yet-to-be-selected director of schools, whose term of office begins July 1.

Watkins told the Board he would remain through December 31 at a lesser pay level and be available to answer questions of the new director of schools and the new finance director since Stan George is also retiring on June 30. Watkins said he would love to see the completion of the new indoor multi-purpose sports building on the campus of McKenzie High School. Last week, The Banner incorrectly reported Watkins requested his current level of pay. He instead requested 50 days of salary for the 184-day period.
