JEFFERSON, North Carolina -  Coy Daniel Climer, 81, died January 26, 2021 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 24, 1939 in Chester County, the son of the late Dexter Riley and Gertha Barker Climer. He graduated from Sardis High School in 1958. He attended Bethel College and married Linda Akers in 1960. They made their home in McKenzie and he worked for Gaines Manufacturing and then lived in North Carolina for five years. They returned to Tennessee and he worked for American Olean Tile from 1984 until he retired in 2001. He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church.

 He served in the Tennessee National Guard for six years.

They enjoyed traveling and had visited all fifty states. He dearly loved his extended Climer family.

Mr. Climer is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Akers Climer; two daughters, Rita Climer Davis (Charles) of Blowing Rock, North Carolina and Judy Climer Stallings of Jefferson, North Carolina; a brother, Joe Climer of Reagan; three sisters, Martha Bell Climer, Elizabeth Mooney and Velma Dean Hart, all of Reagan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Hazel Ryan and Mamie Dell Essary and three brothers, Paul Climer, Clifford Climer and Ernest Climer.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Sam McAdams and Randy Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at McKenzie.

The family will receive friends 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel and noon until 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

The family requests that facial coverings be worn and mindfulness of social distancing be practiced.
