Mc Kenzie, TNFuneral services for Dr. Sidney C. Ray are Friday, October 29, 2021 at 2: 00 p.m. at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends on Friday, 10:30 am. until service time. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, McKenzie.
Dr. Ray, 93, died at his home Sunday, October 24, 2021.
He was born on November 30, 1927 in Sullivan, Ohio to Clyde A. And Vada Ringler Ray. He served in the U.S. Military at the end of World War II and during the Korean War. He was in the Navy, Army Reserves and National Guard. He is a retired family physician and member of the VFW.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sharon Gwaltney Ray, three daughters, Deborah Douglas, Shari (John) Hildebrandt and Cyndee Gratz, two sons Michael (Sarah Kidd) Ray and Joseph (Kimberly) Gwaltney, a sister Mary Ellen (Charlie)Barna, nine grandchildren Dustin ( Sasha) Ray, Samantha (Ish) Gwaltney, Hannah Gwaltney, Garrett Gwaltney, Paul(Esmeralda) Douglas, Jay (Jamie) Hildebrandt, Christie Hildebrandt, William (Rowan) Gratz and Lydia (Derek) Cooper and twelve great-grandchildren Gavin, Ava, Orion, Damien, Kage, Kane, Quinn, Kate, Ellery, Raphaelle, Ava and Ellie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert Gwaltney and grandson Camden Bramley Gwaltney.
Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
