HUNTINGDON (May 29) — On Wednesday afternoon a diver from the Carroll County Rescue Squad recovered the body of an 18-year-old male swimmer at the Carroll County 1,000 Acre Recreational Lake.
The victim was Detravion Jarrett of Jackson. He reportedly had a girlfriend from the area.

Carroll County Sheriff Andy Dickson told The McKenzie Banner the swimmer was in the designated swimming area when witnesses saw him go under the water between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Some of the witnesses were unaware he was in distress and others attempted to find his body once he went under. Witnesses said the depth of the water increases drastically at that one point. It is the second drowning at the lake since it opened.
The man-made lake does not have lifeguards and swimmers are advised to swim at their own risk.
Upon recovery, his body was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County.
