Electric Department Board Meets With New Leadership

Posted

HUNTINGDON (June 30) — Carroll County Electric Department Board of Directors held its first meeting under new general manager, Ryan Drewry. It marks the first change in leadership since July 1, 2014, when immediate past manager Danny Brawner was selected to lead the utility.

Drewry served as CCED’s office manager previously.

It was a meeting with few items of business to conduct.

The Board honored Terry Howell for eight years of service on the Board. He served in the appointed position representing the McKenzie area. He also served as chairman for his last four years.

Drewry praised Howell for his ‘great service’ on the Board. Howell said he was proud to serve and noted CCED’s personnel are second to none.

Drewry announced two upcoming retirements from the staff. Marsha Mash has 33 years of service and Hilda Wallace has almost 49 years. One lineman resigned for other work opportunities. Drewry announced CCED will hire one lineman and one office person. He noted the new automatic digital meter reading service has created efficiencies in labor, which allows CCED to reduce the number of personnel through attrition.

The Board approved the ‘write-off’ of bad debt in the amount of $49,790 for the year.

Customers’ monthly bills will increase during the hot weather, said Drewry, in part because TVA adds a fuel surcharge because it generates a portion of its electricity from natural gas during peak demands. Drewry said CCED has not experienced any system problems during high demand periods.
