McKENZIE — E.W. James and produce manager Kristie Wainscott were recently awarded Honorable Mention in the national Idaho Potato Lover’s Display Contest.
The annual contest challenges grocery retailers to create unique displays featuring Idaho Potatoes, Hormel bacon toppings and Fresh Gourmet products.
Wainscott constructed her Star Wars-themed display in February with help from produce associate Dennis Reed. The store ordered a variety of products for the display, and Wainscott gathered Star Wars items to include from friends and family.
She and the store were notified in early July of their selection to the Honorable Mention list in their store category, which is based on the number of registers.
Wainscott told The Banner, “It’s good news for the community. It’s something fun and different to hopefully get people to shop locally.” She credited store manager Jason Sellers with his support.
Sellers told The Banner, “We’re always trying to promote talent from within. Kristie has made a great addition to our E.W. family here in McKenzie. We try to cultivate creative ideas that help our associates grow and learn.”
