McKenzie Farmers Market News

Posted
The recent rains have helped our sellers’ produce and we still have okra, peas, beans, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, tomatoes, onions, delicious melons and more. If you don’t feel like making your own pickles, jams, and jellies, we have you covered. Delicious bread and butter pickles, dill pickles, hot pickles and sweet pickles are available in addition to a variety of relishes.

We also have farm fresh eggs, and  Baker Birds is taking orders for their fresh poultry.  Once you try a Baker Bird, it’s hard to go back to anything else. Shoppers have their choice of delicious breads, pies, rolls, cookies, tamales, and all natural cleaning products, candles and more.

This week, we are highlighting Linda’s Bread and Things. Linda Swalley has been a regular vendor at our Farmers Market for several years, and shoppers come weekly to stock up on her variety of fresh breads. Any flavor you want is available including: Mexican cornbread, pizza bread, jalapeno popper bread, banana nut bread, snickers bread, German chocolate bread, strawberry shortcake bread, pineapple upside down bread, zucchini bread, and caramel apple bread. Linda also has a variety of yummy dog treats, jellies including jalapeno, strawberry peach, grape, blackberry, apple, cherry, and apple butter. Linda also has unique birdhouses, and jewelry at her booth. Be sure to stop by and stock up on some of her mini-loaves and more to enjoy this week.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the Sweet Tea and Southern Pickin’s Festival  August 26-27. Carroll County 4-H will have a vegetable derby for our youth, we will also have Susie’s petting zoo set up, water slides will be down by the caboose, and we will be giving away sweet tea in the Farmers Market to cool off and celebrate the festival on Saturday.

The McKenzie Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8 a.m.-noon, or until vendors sell out, and Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m.
