FCE Dairy Food Recipe Contest

Posted

The FCE clubs of Carroll County met June 5, 2019, in the Senior Citizen’s room of the Carroll County Complex for the annual Dairy Food Contest.
The judges were: Susan Sloan, Melinda Quisenberry and Mary Humphrey.
It seemed to be a difficult decision because they wanted to give a tie for second place. But finally, a decision was made.
The winners are: 1st place with a prize of $25.00 goes to Ruth McElroy; 2nd place with a cash prize of $15.00 goes to Danita Laman; 3rd place with a prize of $10.00 went to Martha Sue Peters.

They were judged on availability of ingredients, clearness and accuracy of the recipe, whether the recipe was followed, preparation technique, appearance, taste, serving suggestions, and lastly how much dairy went into it. There were a possible 100 points.
Ruth’s dish was a chicken broccoli casserole, Danita made a chicken tamale pie, and Martha Sue made cheeseburger sliders.
The ladies stayed and sampled the dishes after the judging.
Next year’s dish is yet to be decided but there were several good suggestions, such as a breakfast dish or a salad, possibly a dessert.
The ladies will discuss it at county council meeting in July.
