The Bethel/Eastside FCE meeting was called to order in the home of Mary and Pennye Mays. The devotion was given by the hostess for the evening, Miss Pennye Mays. She read an article by Helen Steiner Rice entitled, “Count your gains, not your losses,” this went along with the thought for the day, “Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.” -Warren Buffet. We then read the Family and Community Education Club Prayer in unison. Roll call was answered with a kitchen safety tip. There were 7 members present plus our agent, Lacy Yeley, and two guests, Colin and Cooper Yeley. The minutes were read and approved. The treasury report was given by Mary Mays, treasurer.
Old business was next on the agenda. A date was set to work on the busy blankets for Alzheimer’s patients. Saturday, October 26 will be a workshop for the bears also. The county council meeting is October 28 at 10 a.m.
New business: We drew names for secret sister. This is to be just cards through the year and culminating with a $2 gift for Christmas in July. It was suggested we make pumpkin centerpieces. Everyone was for this idea. Danita is to get the supplies and bring them to the workshop on the 26th.
For the education session, we took the quiz provided with our fair board on Thank a Farmer. An educational tip was given, put screens in your bathroom sink and tub drains to keep your drains from getting so clogged. Our Christmas dinner will be at Mallard’s on December 12 at 12 p.m. Next month, the hostess is Danita Laman.
