Fillies Coast on Senior Night, Rebels Rally Late to Edge Mustangs

HUNTINGDON (February 7) — Huntingdon High School celebrated Senior Night Friday and hosted McKenzie for a pair of district basketball contests. The Fillies pulled away in the third quarter and cruised to a 55-29 victory. The Mustangs led by nine at the half, but the Rebels chipped away down the stretch and took a late lead for a 57-50 win.
Between games, 16 senior players, managers and cheerleaders were honored on the court, joined by family members.
Senior cheerleaders are Abby Ballard, escorted by Brian and Michelle French; Katie Coleman, escorted by Mike and Wendy Coleman; Kensley Crossno, escorted by Kevin and Vicki Crossno; and Katie Simpson, escorted by Todd and Michelle Simpson.
Senior Fillies are Adyn Swenson, escorted by Eric and Anissa Swenson; Kaci Fuller, escorted by Jody and Amy Fuller; and Tyasia Reed, escorted by Nathan Reed, Kenneth Gordon and Jobina Gordon.
Senior Mustangs are Ben Taylor, escorted by David and April Taylor; Noah Belew, escorted by Tracy and Robin Belew; Kyrien Jordan, escorted by Kiowa and Blair Jordan; Nik Bynum, escorted by Jason and Amy Bynum; Devontavius Pruitte-Hutch, escorted by Cynthia Hutch; Drake Butler, escorted by Clint and Gina Butler; and Kylin Finch, escorted by Kevin Finch, Amanda Simmons and Linda Johnson.
Senior manager is Tim Walls, escorted by Harmon and Amy Grimes.
Fillies 55, Lady Rebels 29
The Fillies had a 10-9 edge after the opening frame, led by Kaci Fuller with four points. Brooke Butler hit a three-pointer. Adyn Swenson had a pair, and Brooklyn Williams hit a free throw. Lilly Bennett led the Lady Rebels with six points, and Shelby Davis hit a three.
Huntingdon grew the lead with a 16-9 advantage in the second quarter, led by Butler with five points, including a three. Swenson scored four, and Fuller hit a three. Williams and Addison Postlethwait each had a pair. Bennett led McKenzie with seven, and Dani Dyer had a pair. At the half, Huntingdon led 26-18.
The Fillies pulled away in the third, 16-5, led by Butler with five, including a three. Fuller scored four, and Swenson hit a three-pointer. Postlethwait and Tyasia Reed each had a pair. Davis scored three points for the Lady Rebels, and Bennett added a pair. Entering the final frame, the Fillies led 42-23.

Huntingdon capped the win with a 13-6 tilt in the fourth, led by Postlethwait and Reed with four points each. Williams hit a three, and Swenson added a pair. Davis, Bennett and Kylie Reynolds each had a pair for McKenzie.
Lady Rebel Lilly Bennett led all scorers with 17 points.
Brooke Butler led the Fillies with 13 points, including a trio of three-pointers. Kaci Fuller and Adyn Swenson each scored eleven, each with a three.
Rebels 57, Mustangs 50
The Rebels had a 10-8 edge after the first frame, led by Lazarick Hill with six points. Lane Horton and Micah Austin each had a pair. Mustangs Drake Butler and Kyrien Jordan each scored four points.
Huntingdon took the lead with an 18-7 advantage in the second quarter, led by Grant Bartholomew with eleven points. Ben Taylor hit a three-pointer, and Butler and Jordan each added a pair. Austin scored five for McKenzie with a three, and Nate Whitsell had a pair. At the half, the Mustangs led 26-17.
The Rebels cut into the deficit with a 17-12 tilt in the third, led by Lucas King with nine points, including a three. Austin scored six on a pair of three-pointers, and Hill added a pair. Jordan led Huntingdon with four points, and Bartholomew, Nik Bynum, Brandon Lawton and Noah Belew each had a pair. Heading into the final frame, the Mustangs led 38-34.
McKenzie completed the rally in the fourth, outscoring Huntingdon 23-12. King led the effort with 17 points, including a trio of threes. Austin scored five with a three, and Hill hit a freebie. Bartholomew led the Mustangs with six points, including a three. Butler, Belew and Jordan each added a pair.
Rebel Lucas King led all scorers with 26 points, including four three-pointers. Micah Austin scored 18, also with four threes.
Grant Bartholomew led Huntingdon with 19 points, including a three. Kyrien Jordan scored a dozen.
