Four northwest Tennessee teams will participate in the girls state basketball tournaments beginning Wednesday, March 11 at The Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
Greenfield, Gibson County, and Huntingdon play in the Class A tournament after all three teams won in the Sectional games played Saturday night. Martin-Westview’s girls will play in the Class AA tournament.
Greenfield defeated MAHS of Memphis Saturday night, 81-44; Gibson County defeated Memphis Business, 63-48; and Huntingdon defeated Richland, 66-59, to earn the right to be among the eight teams across the state to participate in the Class A state tourney.
Westview defeated Covington, 50-45, to advance to play in the eight-team Class AA tournament.
For Class A, Greenfield faces North Greene in Game 1 on Thursday at 1:15 p.m. Huntingdon plays Clarkrange in Game 2 at 2:45 p.m. Gibson County meets Pickett County in Game 4 at 6 p.m.
With wins, Greenfield and/or Huntingdon will play in a Friday semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Gibson County’s potential semifinal is at 6 p.m.
The Class A Championship Game is Saturday at 6 p.m.
Westview begins Class AA tournament play Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Grainger. Should they advance, the Lady Chargers’ semifinal is Friday at 1:15 p.m.
The Class AA Championship Game is Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
