Free Airplane Rides for Kids Success After Rain Delay

Posted

McKENZIE — The April Young Eagles Flight Rally at Carroll County Airport took place Saturday, April 27, one week later than expected because of rain.  Thirty kids had a great time experiencing aviation. They flew in airplanes provided by EAA Chapter 734 pilots and joined more than two million young people who have become Young Eagles since 1992. EAA’s Young Eagles program was designed to interest youth in aviation mainly through free flights but the program also includes camps, workshops, and scholarships.
Area youth ages 8-17 will have another chance to ride in an airplane for free Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.   This event is at the Henry County Airport just north of Paris on Highway 69. A parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form but will not be flying.
Additional information about the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and the Young Eagles program is available on the internet at www.eaa.org. Visit EAA Chapter 734’s website at www.734.eaachapter.org for details about the local chapter and rain dates.
