Gleason Defeats the Lady Rockets by 30

The Gleason Lady Bulldogs defeated the Clarksburg Lady Rockets 70-40 to finish their regular season.

The Lady Bulldogs chalked up 22 points in the first quarter. Autumn Mingle and Ava Sawyers had seven points each. Jaeda Perry chalked up five points. Maya Lamb tacked on three points with a deep shot behind the arc.

The Lady Rockets scored 11 points during the first quarter. Sam Segraves drove to the basket for two points, then made three shots from the free throw line. Grace Bartholomew and Cassie Blount drained a 3-pointer each. The Lady Rockets trailed 22-11 going into the second quarter.

Gleason kept their pace during the second quarter and earned 19 points. Sophie Wilson made two 3-point shots, then had a shot in the paint for two points. Kaylee Tucker drove to the basket for two points, then drained two free throw shots. Mingle and Perry had two points each. Ava Sawyers made a 3-point shot. The Bulldogs had a 21 point lead at halftime.

Clarksburg was held to just nine points in the second half. Segraves chalked up four points. Chloe Crum made a 3-pointer. Bartholomew drove to the basket for two points. At halftime, the Lady Bulldogs dominated the Lady Rockets 41-20.

The Lady Bulldogs added another 21 points to their side of the board during the third quarter. Sawyers had nine points during the quarter. Tucker tacked on six points. Mingle had four points, and Lamb drained two foul shots.

Clarksburg added eight points to the board during the third quarter. Blount made a 3-pointer. Crum had a shot in the paint for two points. Segraves drove to the basket for two, then drew a foul for one point. The Lady Rockets followed the Lady Bulldogs 62-28 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Rockets scored 12 points in the fourth quarter. Bartholomew chalked up six points. Segraves had four points, and Addison Milam had two points.

The Lady Bulldogs were held to just eight points. Wilson had two points. Tucker had a three point play in the paint. Lamb drove to the basket for two points. Perry drained one free throw. Gleason topped off their season with a 70-40 victory over Clarksburg.

The Lady Bulldogs finished the season as third in the district and will play against Dresden High School at the University of Tennessee at Martin on Friday, Feb. 17. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.

Bulldogs finish the regular season on a low note.

The Gleason Bulldogs finished their regular season with a 90-62 loss to the Clarksburg Rockets. The Rockets took off in the second quarter and left the Bulldogs in their smoke.

The Bulldogs scored 12 points in the first quarter. Kylan Borneman had five points. Drake Lehmkuhl had two points in the paint and two points from the free throw line. Kade Sawyers tacked on three points.

The Rockets took a four point lead in the first quarter. Clint Clayton had six points. Sha Williams had six points from behind the arc. Brayden Cobb and Trae Cobb had two points each. The Rockets led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter.

Gleason scored 18 points in the second quarter. Lehmkuhl had six points in the paint and four from the foul line. Gage Byington drove to the basket for two points. Sawyers drained another 3-point shot. The Bulldogs’ offense was not enough to keep up with the Rockets.

The Rockets had 29 points during the second quarter. Clayton had eight points. Williams had 13 points. Brayden Cobb had four points in the paint. Kayion Pearson and Trae Cobb had two points each. The Rockets led 45-30 at halftime.

The Bulldogs scored another 12 points after coming out of the locker room. Lehmkuhl had four points. Owen Taylor made a 3-pointer. Byington had a 3-point play in the paint. Sawyers made two shots from the free throw line.

The Rockets added another 17 points to their side of the scoreboard during the third quarter. Clayton had two points in the paint and one from the foul line. Kannon Hampton had five points. Trae Cobb drained a 3-point shot. Jacob Derryberry had two points in the paint. Williams knocked down two free throws. Clarksburg led Gleason 62-42 at the end of the third quarter.

The Bulldogs put up 20 points in the final quarter. Sawyers made five free throws. C.J. Reed knocked down two free throws. Ashton Morgan and Tristian Chandler had two points each. Kyzer Crochet had four points. Borneman drained a 3-pointer. Taylor drove to the basket for two points.

The Rockets added 28 points to their lead in the fourth quarter. Williams had nine points. Bryler O’Neal had five points. Brayden Cobb and Hampton had three points each. Chase Hollinghead drove to the basket for two, then made one free throw. Jake Miller had four points. Dylan Pruett tacked on one foul shot. Clarksburg defeated Gleason 90-62.

Gleason finished fifth in the district and will take on south Fulton for their chance to stay in the district tournament. The Bulldogs will travel to South Fulton on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
