Greenfield Wins Two At Gleason

GLEASON (December 14) — Defending State Champions Greenfield Lady Yellowjackets earned a win over the Gleason Lady Bulldogs as the two rivals competed on the hardwood for cross-county bragging rights. It was Greenfield who edged the Lady Bulldogs 60 to 53.
Both teams utilized the full-court press throughout the contest. The first points of the contest were scored at the 5:42 in the first quarter by Tess Darby.
The 2018 State Tournament Class 1A MVP Chloe Moore McNeil had one-half of the team’s points – 30 of which 10 were free throws and two were three-point field goals.
Greenfield, coached by Gleason native Willie Trevathan, scored 12 in the first quarter, 13 in the second, 25 in the third, and 10 in the fourth. Tess Darby scored 14 points, Reese Biggs 7, Edie Darby 5, Caroline Crouse 2, and Mattie Winberry 2.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Kenady Atkins with 17 points, including two three-pointers and one foul shot. The team, coached by Sean Stephenson, scored 10 in the first quarter, 10 in the second, 12 in the third, and 21 in the fourth. Carrington Lifsey and Alayna Anderson each had 11, Daisy Blevins ad 8, Lillie Freeman had 4, and Veronica Rosa had 2.
In the nightcap, Greenfield took an early command of the contest with Joshua Floyd leading the scoring with 23 total in the contest. Floyd had 4 three-pointers. Jackson Crouse scored 21, Ross Northcutt 9, Brandon Tuttle 7, Nyrail Jackson 6, Jared Anderson 4, Jacob Floyd 3, and Kobe Thomas 2.
Greenfield scored 24 in the first quarter, 26 in the second, 9 in the third, and 16 in the fourth.
Gleason was led by Elijah Young with 19 points, Dawson Arnold with 9, Brady Witherspoon 9, and Olen Reed with 7.
Scoring by quarter was: 14 in the first, 11 in the second, 14 in the third, and 5 in the fourth.
