HHS Sweeps Clarksburg in District Contests

HUNTINGDON (December 7) — Huntingdon’s Fillies and Mustangs played host to Clarksburg in a pair of district matchups with both Huntingdon teams winning their games one close and one not so close.
Huntingdon 56, Clarksburg 46
The Fillies and Lady Rockets went toe to toe for three quarters and wasn’t really decided until a 10-0 run by Huntingdon in the opening four minutes of the fourth period.
The first period was close with Huntingdon staying slightly ahead the entire period and holding a 14-12 lead at the end of the period. It remained the same early in the second period with both teams playing tight defense against each other. Huntingdon opened up a 24-14 lead halfway through the period behind several three-point shots. The Lady Rockets erased that lead with a 9-2 run in the final two minutes before half to make it a close 26-23 contest at the half with the Fillies maintaining the lead.
Huntingdon opened up a slight lead 35-37 halfway through the third period but Clarksburg came right back and made it a 40-39 game at the end of three periods. The Lady Rockets shooting went cold early in the fourth period while the Fillies took advantage of it with a 10-0 run to take a 50-39 lead with 4:30 left in the game. The Fillies went on to win 56-46.
Huntingdon had three in double figures led by Allie Jones with 19 points including 3 three-pointers and 6-7 shooting from the free-throw line. Tyasia Reed had 11 including a pair of three-pointers while Adyn Swenson had 10 points on the night Addison Postlewait and Macey Culbreath added 7 points each while Brooke Butler chipped in 2 for the Fillies.

Clarksburg also had multiple players in double figures led by Brooklyn Williams with 19 points including a pair of three-pointers. Sarah Derryberry had 11 points mostly coming from 3 three-pointers. Sami Roney had 8 while Ashlyn Yarbrough and Krista Noble added 3 points each. Markiya Abdallah chipped in 2 points for the Lady Rockets.
Huntingdon 71, Clarksburg 38
The Mustangs had the hot hand from start to finish resulting in a lopsided win. Huntingdon opened up with a 9-3 lead and went on to lead 18-11 at the end of one period. In the second period, Huntingdon created numerous turnovers that turned into easy baskets. Meanwhile, Clarksburg was finding points hard to come by scoring only six points in the quarter as they trailed 41-17 at the half.
Huntingdon came out of halftime with a 9-1 run to make it a 50-18 game and went on to lead 57-25 at the end of three periods. Both teams played numerous younger players in the final period as the Mustangs went on to win 71-38.
Ten Mustangs scored in the contest led by Kaleel Bailey with 14 points followed by Xavier White with 13, Clay Pinson had 9 while Kieyren Jordan and Blake Bradley scored 8 points each, Kamron Gordon and Hunter Ledsinger added 7 points each. DeJuan Raglin-Smith, and Noah Belew chipped in 2 points each.
Clarksburg was led by Jordan Morris with 14 points. Dakota Garner had 8 points while Jaylen Davis had 5 points. Logan Witcher and Spencer had 4 points each. Brandon Pendergrass and Noah Rich chipped in 2 points and 1 point respectively.
