Huntingdon’s Main Street Christmas Returns

Posted

Join the Town of Huntingdon on Saturday, December 11, 2021, for Main Street Christmas.

The day begins at 2 p.m. with events located within The Dixie and on the Court Square.

Inside The Dixie, you will be greeted by the sounds of the season as Birdsong School of Music students fill the lobby with a Christmas recital. The Dixie Carter PAC Gift Shop will also be open, and you can purchase tickets to upcoming Dixie performances at The Box Office.

“It’s a Wonderful Life” will play at the Court Theatre starting at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are free to the public, thanks to sponsor Carroll Bank & Trust.

Along the Court Square, ISTEA train rides will travel through the streets of downtown, and a live nativity with accompanying church choirs will take the stage on the Courthouse steps.

The Colonial Tea Room will host “A Special Afternoon at the North Pole” featuring a few special guests with plenty of hot cocoa and snow to go around. Admission is $5 which includes face painting, ornament making, and the chance to make reindeer food.

A variety of local stores will be open for holiday shopping as well - many with Main Street Christmas specials - and Santa will make a grand appearance at Lawrence Designs. A suggested donation of $10 will give you the opportunity to grab a personal photo with Old Saint Nick.

Pop-ups will be located around the Court Square including pottery, Holi Moli Designs and Jason Reeves - In the Garden at Mudslingers. Bishop Place Candles, Sweet and Sassy Boutique, The Wooden Spoon, and “Ma Sue’s Sweets & more” will be located within FirstBank’s lobby. Don’t miss the chance to shop these plus many more!

At 5:30 p.m., rain or shine, the town Christmas tree will be lit and include a small ceremony with the community joining together to sing Christmas songs at City Hall on East Main Street.

At 6 p.m. the Bill Willoughby Memorial Huntingdon Christmas Parade begins. The parade route begins on West Main St. and proceeds to the Square and continue on East Main St., ending right after City Hall on 5th Avenue. All parade entries will line up behind Carroll Bank & Trust before the parade begins. To participate in the parade, please call the Huntingdon Police Department at 731-986-5310 or come by the Public Safety Building to pick up an entry.
