Theft of Merchandise — Savannah Michelle Whitfield, 24, of Huntingdon was cited for theft of merchandise under $1,000 on May 15.
According to the report by Officer Labe Ezell, he received a call from store security at Walmart in Huntingdon that Whitfield had been in the store switching bar codes on items in the self-checkout line. Ezell conducted a traffic stop on Whitfield and transported her back to Walmart.
During questioning, Whitfield told Ezell she attempted to scan the bar code on a Kool-Aid packet in place of other items she was putting in her buggy, and when she was confronted by employees, she left the store. She also told Ezell she had attempted to do the same thing at Walmart the previous night but got nervous and left the store before completing her checkout. All items were returned to Walmart, so Whitfield does not owe the store restitution.
Dog Attack — Redonna Paige Campbell, 51, of Huntingdon was cited on a charge of dogs running at large after her dog allegedly attacked and killed another dog on May 15 in Huntingdon.
According to the report by Officer Labe Ezell, he responded to a call about a dog attack at 794 Moody Street. Upon arrival, Ezell observed the remains of a small white dog belonging to Mitcheal Horton with bite marks to the neck. A witness said that he saw a boxer-pit bull mix belonging to Campbell kill Horton’s dog in the yard just a few minutes earlier. The witness said he tried to stop the attack before Campbell came and managed to get control of her dog, but the smaller dog had already been killed.
License Violation — Courtney Cortrell Brooks, 28, of Memphis was cited for driving on a revoked license (second offense) during a May 14 traffic stop in Huntingdon.
