Walmart’s loss prevention officer informed Parham that Brianna Pugh and Dallas Baker had recently gone through the self-checkout and put multiple items in their grocery bags without scanning them. This incident was captured by security cameras. The two failed to scan 12 items, totaling $46.88, for which they owe restitution to Walmart.

On June 5, officers took a report of money being stolen from Murphy USA on June 3 in Huntingdon. The victim of the theft had $460 in a TVA Credit Union envelope at the gas station. She paid for gas and thought she had the envelope. Officers reviewed the video footage of the incident and found that the victim had laid the envelope down on the counter at the cash register while speaking to the cashier. The defendant, Stella, was in the checkout line behind the victim. The defendant went to the counter once the victim left and took the envelope. The defendant then went to her vehicle and put the envelope in the car on the driver’s seat. Hughes was notified by a Carroll County deputy to come to Huntingdon Police Department to speak to officers about the incident.
Shoplifting, Harassment — Derek Williams, 34, was arrested and transported to the Carroll Co Jail on June 15 for Harassment and Shoplifting. Sgt. Tony King responded to a call at Walmart in Huntingdon of a white male taking a 12 pack of twisted tea and drinking the beverages and taking the remainder from the store. While Williams was in the store, he began harassing a clerk wanting a ride and a place to stay. The victim was in fear for her safety so had other employees walk her to her vehicle after her shift. As she arrived at her second place of employment, the defendant had been there waiting to talk to her. Earlier on the same day there were reports of this subject being in and around the court square acting strangely making the workers of Court Theater nervous.
