HUNTINGDON (May 21) — The Huntingdon Special School District Board of Education held a brief meeting Thursday in the cafeteria of Huntingdon Middle School.
The board approved a resolution to suspend policies that conflict with emergency rules and policies created by the state board of education on April 9 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The actions by the state impacted attendance reporting, grading systems, graduation requirements, testing and evaluations in an effort to facilitate early school closures.
Board members also approved two new policies and one update. The policy on emergency closings was updated to include a provision on paying employees while schools are closed, acknowledging that some employees may be paid while they are working from home or even while they are unable to work.
The first new policy allows the Director of Schools to set parameters for employee telework, while the second reflects protections under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
