GREENFIELD (January 13) — Huntingdon traveled to Greenfield High School Monday for a pair of non-district basketball contests.
The Fillies fell behind early but kept pace with the Lady Yellowjackets in the second half before falling 88-59.
The Mustangs overcame an early deficit to lead by a point at the break, then dominated the second half for a 59-39 victory.
Greenfield Lady Yellowjackets 88, Huntingdon Fillies 59
The Lady Yellowjackets had an 18-11 lead after the opening frame, led by Chloe Moore-McNeil with nine points, including a three-pointer. Edie Darby scored eight with a pair of threes, and Mikayla Peterson hit a free throw. Tyasia Reed led the Fillies with five points, including a three. Brooke Butler also hit a three, Addison Postlethwait had a pair, and Brooklyn Williams hit a free throw.
Greenfield grew the lead with a 29-9 advantage in the second quarter, led by Moore-McNeil with 14 points, including a pair of threes. E. Darby and Reese Biggs each scored five points, each with a three. Peterson also hit a three, and Tess Darby had a pair. Huntingdon’s Kaci Fuller hit a three-pointer, and Butler, Reed and Adyn Swenson each had a pair. At the half, the Lady Yellowjackets led 47-20.
The Fillies had a 21-20 edge in the third, led by Swenson with nine points, including a pair of threes. Postlethwait scored eight with a pair of threes, and Reed had four points. Moore-McNeil led the Lady Yellowjackets with seven points, including a three. T. Darby scored six on a pair of threes, and E. Darby hit a three. Caroline Crouse and Lydia Hazlewood each had a pair. Entering the final frame, Greenfield led 67-41.
The Lady Yellowjackets capped the win with a 21-18 tilt in the fourth, led by Peterson with seven points, including a three. T. Darby scored five with a three, and Moore-McNeil had three points. Crouse, E. Darby and Amy Mitchell each had a pair. Butler and Swenson each scored seven for Huntingdon. Lia Fuller had a pair, and K. Fuller and Reed each hit a freebie.
Lady Yellowjacket Chloe Moore-McNeil led all scorers with 33 points, including four three-pointers. Edie Darby scored 18 with four threes. Tess Darby had 13 points with a trio of threes, and Mikayla Peterson scored eleven points with a pair of threes.
Adyn Swenson led the Fillies with 18 points, including a pair of threes. Brooke Butler and Tyasia Reed each scored a dozen, each with a three. Addison Postlethwait had ten points with a pair of threes.
Mustangs 59, Yellowjackets 39
Greenfield had a 15-11 lead after the first frame, led by Jacob Floyd with seven points. Matt Scates and Luke Stone each hit a three-pointer, and Baker Porter had a pair. Grant Bartholomew led Huntingdon with four points. Nik Bynum, Brandon Lawton and Ben Taylor each had a pair, and Drake Butler hit a free throw.
The Mustangs took the lead with a 12-7 advantage in the second quarter, led by Bartholomew with seven points. Devontavious Pruitt-Hutch hit a three, and Butler added a pair. Floyd led the Yellowjackets with four points, and Scates hit another three. At the half, the Mustangs led 23-22.
Huntingdon pulled away with a 21-12 tilt in the third, led by Butler with seven points. Bartholomew scored five, and Taylor had three points. Bynum, D’Allen McCord and Noah Belew each had a pair. Floyd scored all 12 Greenfield points. Heading into the final frame, Huntingdon led 44-34.
The Mustangs sealed the win by outscoring the Yellowjackets 15-5 in the fourth, led by Bartholomew and Bynum with six points each, Bartholomew with a three. Taylor added a pair, and Butler hit a freebie. Floyd scored three points for Greenfield, and Kobe Thomas had a pair.
Yellowjacket Jacob Floyd led all scorers with 26 points.
Grant Bartholomew led Huntingdon with 22 points, including a three-pointer. Drake Bulter scored eleven, and Nik Bynum had ten points.
