HUNTINGDON — Huntingdon’s Town Council unanimously agreed to apply for a Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Infrastructure Planning Grant following a suspension of the rules due to the item not originally being on the agenda.
According to Mayor Dale Kelley, the grant program helps communities understand their needs and plan for future work and funding. The grants are up to $45,000 with a five percent local match with the funds being used for water loss studies.
The current CDBG grant is conducting an evaluation of the sewer system basins flow monitoring to help identify where issues are occurring. The grant is also replacing two aging and inadequate pumping stations including Highway 22 Pumping Station and Williams Street Pumping Station to increase dependability and efficiency.
