PARSONS (September 11) — The Huntingdon Mustangs returned to action Friday night picking up their third win of the season following last week’s COVID-19 forfeiture by Camden. Huntingdon’s second non-region win came against the Riverside Panthers, 26-14; the Panthers came into the game undefeated at 3-0.

Aden Hutcherson had 23 carries for 171 and three touchdowns, Cade Wood carried the ball 11 times for 81 yards, Gray Eubanks had carries 16 for 53 and one touchdown.

Huntingdon’s defense held strong shutting down Riverside’s running game holding them to negative yardage. The Mustang defense forced three interceptions and recorded seven sacks; Blake Reeves (2), Elijah Flowers, Tayshawn Rivers, Nathan Ricketts, Seth Hughes and Eli Mota. Hutcherson and Reeves (2) were credited with the interceptions.

On second-and-ten from the Huntingdon 30-yard line, Hernandez found open receiver Trent Smith for the touchdown. The game was tied 7-7 following the successful PAT by Chase Brock with 8:57 to play in the first quarter.

The second quarter opened with Huntingdon matriculating down the field. Hutcherson picked up his second TD on the night from 38 yards out. Britt’s extra-point up put the Mustangs up 14-7.

With 5:47 to play in the half, Hutcherson crossed the goal line from 68 yards out. The PAT was no good as Huntingdon led at halftime 20-7.
