Huntingdons’ Keller Smith Competes in National Spelling Bee

Keller Smith, 14, an eighth grader at Huntingdon Middle School competed in the Scripps National Spelling Bee last week in Washington, D.C.
Keller Smith won his fourth consecutive school spelling bee in December at Huntingdon and after regional competition, qualified for the national bee. In last week’s competition, he was the 403rd speller.

He is the son of Scott and Shawna Smith.
Keller is on the Huntingdon Middle School football team, where he is the quarterback.
The national Bee had an historic moment when eight spellers tied for first. The announcer exhausted their supply of words.
