The Inglenook Book Club celebrated the Christmas season and brought our meeting year to a close with a noon add-a-dish luncheon at the beautifully decorated home of Sally Sutton, our hostess.

Not only are our members avid book readers, we learned that we also have some good cooks in our membership as well!

Our special guest was former member and past President, Gena Manner.

President Donna Ward welcomed everyone. Victoria Ard asked a beautiful blessing for not only the food we were about to enjoy, but also thanking God for our club, its members, and our wonderful fellowship together.

After a delicious meal prepared by our members, President Ward conducted a brief business meeting.

A thank-you note was read from the McKenzie Memorial Library for our contribution in memory of Roberta Teague, Dietary Manager at Lakeside Senior Living Community.

Members celebrating December birthdays are Geneva Johnson, Zia Locke, and Elaine Williams. Sunshine Chairman Shelia Rogers presented birthday cards to them and the club sang “Happy Birthday.”

President Ward announced that our January meeting will be at Lakeside, and the program will consist of each member announcing the book title and author she is putting in for 2020, along with a brief synopsis.

Carolyn Goodwin thanked President Donna Ward for her excellent job serving as President for the past two years, and everyone gave Donna a round of applause.

We also welcome Carolyn Moore as our incoming President for next year.

After the book passing, members participated in the gift exchange by playing “Musical Gifts,” in which each member was handed a gift, and while Sally Sutton played a recorded Christmas song passed the gifts around until the music stopped. At that point, each member kept the gift she had. Everyone enjoyed seeing each member display her gift and announce the name of the giver.

Members present were: Victoria Ard, Linda Edge, Juanita Finley, Carolyn Goodwin, Suzanne Howell, Geneva Johnson, Shirley Martin, Jean McKinnie, Sandi McMahen, Carolyn Moore, Mary Newman, Carolyn Potts, Marilynn Putman, Shelia Rogers, Gaye Rowan, Suzanne Russell, Sally Sutton, Donna Ward, and Elaine Williams.

Inglenook, December
