The Inglenook Book Club held its monthly meeting on August 10 at Lakeside Senior Living Community in McKenzie with 18 members present.
 
The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Moore. She thanked hostesses Jean McKinnie and Genia Sherwood for the delicious angel food cake topped with pineapple fluff, along with mixed chocolates, Chex mix,and assorted beverages. 
 
Happy Birthday was sang by all to the August birthday ladies, Jean Hollomon and Donna Ward. There was nothing to report by the Sunshine and Membership chairs, and President Moore thanked the telephone chair, Victoria Ard for calling members, as a friendly reminder of the meeting. Several spiral notebooks were donated for the month to the school. Discussion was held on providing personal hygiene bags for the school again this year.
 
As new business, Victoria Ard made a motion “as you are so moved to bring a donation of 1-2 personal items each month along with the monthly listed donation item.” Suzanne Russell seconded the motion, and approved by all. The donations will be given to the school for the teachers to distribute accordingly.
 
Sally Sutton was absent, so Carolyn Moore presented the program on American Author Nora Roberts. Nora was born October 10, 1950 in Silver Springs, Maryland. She has written more than 225 romance novels, which 50 of them were written from 1995-2013. Nora averages writing 15 novels a year. She writes as J. D. Robb for her “In Death” series, and has also written under pseudonyms Jill March and publications in the U. K. as Sarah Hardesty.
 
Nora was the first author to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame.
 
Nora married Ronald Aufdem-Brinke in 1968 and together they have two sons, Jason Aufdem-Brinke and Dan Aufdem-Brinke. They divorced in 1983 and she later remarried  Bruce Wilder in 1985.
 
Nora’s best selling book “Black Hills” is one of the best books to start you Nora Roberts journey. Her latest book released on May 24,2022 is called “Nightwork”.  Nora states “ I’m an Irish woman through and through”.
 
Book passing was done by Mary Newman, with the next book passing date of August 24.
 
The next meeting will be on September 14 at 3:00 at Lakeside. Members are to bring ear buds and donations of personal hygiene products.
 
The hostesses will be Sally Sutton and Beverly Mueller, who is filling in for Sandi McMahen.
