McKenzie, Tenn. - J. T. Lindsey, 88, of McKenzie, died on November 5, 2019. He was born November 12, 1930 to James Ewell Lindsey and Clara Thompson in Danville Alabama. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Millington Tenn. where he met his future wife, Robye. 

They were married in Brighton Tenn. on May 29, 1954. He graduated from Howard College (now Samford University), Birmingham Alabama, with a degree in pharmacy in 1959. They moved to McKenzie in the same year to purchase the Cannon Drug Store which later became Lindsey’s Rexall. 

He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club, serving as secretary and receiving the Paul Harris Fellow award. He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 60 years. He was an avid supporter of Bethel University, especially the Athletics Department and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.

He is survived by his wife, Robye, sons, Keith (Melissa) of Pontotoc Miss. and Timothy (Carol) of Clarksville, grandchildren, Anna (Keith) Garner, Rachel (Randy) Davis, Kathryn and John Lindsey, Matthew, Adam and Blake Guntharp, along with four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is November 9, 2019 at 4 p.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of McKenzie. Visitation is 2 p.m. until time of service.
